If you ship and receive packages at your office or home on a regular basis you will figure out that you have more styrofoam peanuts, bubble wrap and boxes than you know what to do with. If you ship items out on a regular basis, recycle your shipping supplies by reusing them in your outgoing packages.

Nearly half of the commercial electricity is used up by small businesses and with simple steps all of us can help conserve much of this energy. It may be necessary to use a printer/ fax to retrieve hard copies of documents instead of electronic copies. If you start to think green there may be some ways to reduce the energy stamp that printer is leaving in your office.

Does your office have a paper policy? It would be easy to assume a majority of companies have instituted recycling policies – or at least set up recycling bins for office paper. Unfortunately, only about half of all office paper is actually recycled. That means a great deal of the 4 million tons of copy paper used each year ends up in landfills and dumps. Many companies are taking steps to improve both recycling efforts as well as the manufacturing of recycled paper.

As the troubles become more apparent you will see many of our schools working hard to be more “green“. It is often a shock when people realize how un-environmental our kids and their schools might be. Around the world many have began to mobilize to improve the environmental knowledge and health in our schools. It is very important for us to protect our children’s future and this can only be done if we educate those students.

Many people do not have a grasp on just how big the ink and toner cartridge industry or the effects it can have on the environment. Nearly 400 million empty ink and toner cartridges are being thrown away each year with most ending up in landfills or in incinerators. What many consumers do not realize is that your office supplier most likely has a recycling program and if not they will know who you can contact. This knowledge is on the forefront with the team effort to improve our environment and the world we will leave behind for future generations.
