Not knowing your printer supplies can cost you moneyOften the position of procurement for printer supplies is taken for granted and this can be a major mistake.  Someone in the procurement position with lack of print knowledge can end up costing your company money.  The printer supply industry is a crowded one and find the right supplier or solution is not an easy task.  I have seen many companies do one of two things, either hire a print management firm which can equal big fees or attempt to go direct which does not guarantee you will be fit with the right equipment.

Printer Ink & Toner Cartridge Page YieldToday I wanted to touch on a subject that often causes debates amongst the office supply industry.  How many pages should my printer ink or toner cartridge print.  First, page yield is the number of pages that the cartridge will allow you to print before ink or toner levels run low.  This factor alone should be a major factor for you when shopping for your replacement ink and toner.  Let me say this right away, just because the box says 500 pages does not mean you are actually going to print off 500 pages.  This is all determined by exactly what you print.

Empty Cartridges are Not GarbageMany people do not have a grasp on just how big the ink and toner cartridge industry or the effects it can have on the environment.  Nearly 400 million empty ink and toner cartridges are being thrown away each year with most ending up in landfills or in incinerators.  What many consumers do not realize is that your office supplier most likely has a recycling program and if not they will know who you can contact.  This knowledge is on the forefront with the team effort to improve our environment and the world we will leave behind for future generations.

Get everything out of your HP Toner CartridgeNowadays with all of our technology many of the HP printers have capability to track printing along with toner levels.  The issue with the chip tracking toner levels it that is often not accurate and will stop the printing long before toner is out.  This can be frustrating when  you can clearly see the cartridge has toner left but the machine will not printing and keeps telling you “Low Ink”.  I am going to layout the process to cold reset the machine and toner chip which should allow you to continue printing with your remaining toner levels.
